Lou Dunham Moderates CCO Panel at RMA Annual Conference

Risk appetite, concentrations, and retaining the next generation of bankers were just some of the topics discussed as Lou Dunham, Ardmore’s Senior VP & Senior Director of Credit Risk Management, moderated an energetic and thoughtful panel of Chief Credit Officers during  the Risk Management Association’s annual conference in Boston this week.

The panel, made up of Sarah Cowan from the National Bank of Middlebury, Daniel Eilert from INTRUST Bank and Michael Nassy from First Virginia Community Bank also spoke about concerns caused by the size and complexity of deals and potential bubbles in each bank’s market that could cause trouble down the road.

The discussion closed with each panelist naming their concerns for the remainder of 2017 into next year.  Ms. Cowan said that she was keeping an eye on core deposits as interest rates rise, Mr. Nassy named compliance in a constantly shifting regulatory environment and Mr. Eilert said that he was worried about the impact that a rushed approach to tax reform would have on any number of industries.  “I know that we’ve already booked our next loss,” he said.  “I just don’t know where it’s going to be, or for how much.”
