Columbus Business First Forecasts Increased Consolidation in Ohio

According to a recent article in the Columbus Business First, Ohio banks are primed to undergo a wave of consolidation in 2014.

The article cites a number of recent transactions, and also states that in, addition to the usual merger and acquisition indicators of small profit margins and regulatory burden, Ohio has a larger than average number of small, undervalued lenders that are looking to sell.

However, in a
separate article, regulators are advising acquirers that the proper steps must be taken, and that they will be reviewing deals closely for the due diligence performed, along with the operational and reputational risk being taken by the potential buyer.
